Portainer has released version 2.45.1 LTS, as detailed in the project's GitHub release notes. This update includes significant dependency upgrades to address multiple security vulnerabilities. Notable fixes include updates to golang.org/x/mod, golang.org/x/crypto, google.golang.org/grpc, and Alpine packages in the kubectl shell image, resolving critical and high-severity CVEs such as CVE-2026-39821, CVE-2026-63073, and CVE-2026-84304. Additionally, the kubectl shell image now uses kubectl v1.37.0 and helm v4.2.4, further enhancing security by eliminating outdated libraries.
Operators should review their Podman environments before upgrading, as this release highlights known issues with Podman support. Specifically, Podman environments cannot be added via socket when Portainer is running on Docker, and auto-onboarding scripts do not support Podman environments. Furthermore, only CentOS 9 with Podman 5 rootful is supported. These limitations could impact workflows relying on Podman integration.
